Human Camper of the Year 2026: Vera Makes a Difference Every Day Through Her Care

Some colleagues stand out for their outstanding achievements. Others stand out for the way they make a difference every day—often almost unnoticed—for everyone around them. Vera does both. That’s why her colleagues voted her Human Camper of the Year 2026.

A title that visibly surprised her.

“I was on vacation when I received a really nice video from Pim in which he told me I’d been named Human Camper of the Year,” Vera says enthusiastically. “That was really great.”

The fact that she was chosen by her colleagues makes the recognition even more special. “We have such a wonderful, large, diverse, and friendly group of colleagues. Everyone has their own talents. That’s exactly why I didn’t see this coming. My first thought was: what an incredibly beautiful gesture of appreciation from my closest colleagues.”

A colleague who’s always there

When you ask Vera’s colleagues why they voted for her, the same words come up again and again: dedicated, energetic, helpful, and always positive.

They describe her as someone who thinks of everything, is there for everyone, and creates a great atmosphere. Someone who works hard, genuinely cares about others, and even manages to turn a trip to the restroom into a party thanks to her creative styling. Her infectious enthusiasm and warm personality make colleagues feel seen and welcome.

That appreciation fits perfectly with who Vera is. She has been working with visible joy at the Driessen Groep for fifteen years now.

“I’ve been working here for fifteen years now with a great deal of job satisfaction. That really says it all.”

Job satisfaction is found in the little things

For Vera, job satisfaction isn’t found in one big moment, but rather in everything that makes an ordinary workday special.

She gets energy from seeing the office looking neat again, from organizing events together, from compliments from guests, and from getting the campus into the Christmas spirit. Her growth as a team leader and her collaboration with the cleaning team also give her a great deal of satisfaction.

One moment she looks back on with particular pride is the most recent employee satisfaction survey (ESS).

“My colleagues on the cleaning team filled out the ESR in droves and rated their job satisfaction at an 8.5. I’m incredibly proud of that.”

Attention Makes the Difference

If Vera had to name one ingredient that she believes makes the biggest difference, she wouldn’t have to think twice.

“Attention.”

It’s a small word, but that’s exactly where its power lies: genuine attention to colleagues, visitors, and the environment. You can see that in the way she collaborates, leads, and is there for others day in and day out.

For her, that commitment starts at home. When asked who has inspired her the most, she names her parents without hesitation. And if there’s one thing you can wake her up for in the middle of the night, it’s her family. “My family is the most important thing.”

Continuing to build job satisfaction together

Vera doesn’t have any complicated ambitions for the coming year. Her greatest wish is perhaps the most beautiful one: to maintain job satisfaction within the Brainport Human Campus.

That’s why she wants to share one final message with all her colleagues:

“We really do have an extraordinary employer.”

And perhaps that is exactly why Vera was named Human Camper of the Year. Not because she likes to be in the spotlight herself, but because she makes sure, day after day, that others feel welcome, seen, and appreciated.
