Korein at Brainport Human Campus: where the future starts with the little ones

Korein childcare, part of We are JONG, has been part of the Brainport Human Campus for quite a few years. Branch manager Nicol van der Sommen is responsible for daily management and explains why this particular location fits Korein's vision so well.

"Connection is central for me," says Nicol. "With our pedagogical professionals, parents and the local environment. Because when colleagues feel good and involved, they radiate that to the children. On campus, that sense of community is an important added value; here we build together an environment where everyone feels seen and appreciated."

A match in core values

The choice for Brainport Human Campus was a logical one. Both Korein and the campus work from the same principles: being, connection and growth. "The Human Campus is a place where people experience job happiness and feel at home. That fits perfectly with our vision of childcare," Nicol explains.

At Korein, everything is about the well-being of children and colleagues. Children develop best in an environment with personal attention, a warm atmosphere and room to discover, take initiative and develop their talents. This dynamic place in the Brainport region offers exactly the right context for this. Both in terms of location and the people who walk around here every day.

The added value of the campus

The Brainport Human Campus is a lively place where learning, working and growing together go hand in hand. For Korein, it means more than a practical location. "The fact that we have a place here says a lot about how the campus looks at child development in today's society," Nicol says.

The central location makes child care easily accessible to parents and the facilities contribute to an accessible, safe and inspiring environment. Moreover, it provides valuable opportunities to collaborate and make local connections. Here there is room for a broader perspective on childcare: not just as support for working parents, but as a place where children can develop in an environment that really sees them. In short: a place that helps us to fulfill our social role optimally.

Together we create connection

This connection is not only something that sounds beautiful on paper, it also becomes tangible in daily practice. Around Christmas, for example, the children took a walk around campus to surprise parents and residents with Christmas songs. "If that's not a connection...," Nicol smiles. New joint activities are already being thought about for the upcoming holidays as well.

Look to the future

Brainport is often associated with innovation. And it is valuable to be part of an environment where the human side of innovation and development is central. At Korein, that innovation starts with the little ones. "We are always looking ahead: how can we help children discover their talents in a world that is constantly changing? Here at the Campus, that forward-looking view is natural," Nicol says.

Because, she concludes, "At Korein, we believe that the future of Brainport starts with today's children. At the Human Campus, we bring that vision to life every day."
